Beverley Ann D'Cruz

I’m a journalist, lapsed food blogger, and widow in recovery.

My experience with grief has been explored in stand-up comedy at Second City Toronto and personal essays in the Globe and Mail. I’m currently working on a memoir, Bad Widow, chronicling my disastrous first steps as a young widow armed only with my dark sense of humour.

When not playing the widow card, I can be found cooking for friends, which is my love language in action. I daylight as a digital content strategist, while not-so-secretly wishing my actual full-time career was experimenting in the kitchen. My passion for food and culture has been captured with bylines in Atlas Obscura, Bon Appetit, and the Toronto Star.

I was born and raised in Bombay, India, and now reside in Brampton, Ontario, with my partner and a toddler who is under the impression he’s the boss of the household.
